President's Message

From Endi Zhai, Ph.D, P.E., G.E.

The fast growth of the International Association of Chinese Geotechnical Engineers (IACGE) and its influence in the geotechnical communities in multiple countries owe to the efforts of our members and the support from a number of organizations across the pacific oceans. The Chinese Academy of Engineering has endorsed our 2nd IACGE International Conference on Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering and will jointly organize this event with IACGE on October 25-27, 2013 in Chengdu, China. We are in an agreement with the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) to publish the proceedings. A number of key government agencies, universities and companies sponsored or supported the IACGE events.

Encouraged and supported by Prof. Qihu QIAN, member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the President of Chinese Rock Mechanics and Engineering (CSRME), IACGE was founded in the United States in January 2009 with a support from many fellow Chinese geotechnical professionals. We are dedicated to increasing professional skills of our members by providing technical workshops, seminars and conferences; to enhancing technical exchange and cooperation among academia, industries and governments in a global range. We aim at bridging the gap between the West and the East in geotechnical related fields. We strive to be an influential not-for-profit professional organization in the geotechnical communities of the world.

Many members have found beneficial from and enjoyed our events. Our quarterly professional workshops have been driven to a new level. As you can see from this website, we have been organizing the events like the U.S.-China bilateral seminar on mega bridges and deep foundations, focusing on new technologies and innovations on design, testing and construction of mega bridges in China and the United States. Our attendees come from multiple-cultures and multiple countries.

As the founding president, I am honored to connect with many influential leaders and professionals in the world who share our interests, support our goals or participate in our activities. I am encouraged by the enrichment, enjoyment and enthusiasm from our members. I am confident to drive this organization to a greater success.

Best Wishes,

Endi Zhai, PhD, PE, GE

President of IACGE
